Vehicle Storage Terms & Conditions

1. Payment Terms & Account Settlements

  • Upfront & Ongoing Payments:  Storage fees are payable monthly in advance. The first payment is due upon or before the vehicle’s arrival at the facility. Subsequent monthly payments must be made on the 1st of each calendar month via Direct Debit through our preferred partner Go Cardless.
  • Account Settlement:  All outstanding invoices must be settled in full before a vehicle can be released or permanently removed from our facility.
  • Late or Missed Payments:  Colne Car Storage reserves the right to charge late payment fees on outstanding balances. If payments are missed, we reserve the right to restrict access to the vehicle until the account is brought up to date.

2. Default & Right of Sale (Lien Clause)

  • Contractual Lien:  Colne Car Storage shall have a general and particular lien on the vehicle for all monies due from the customer. This means we have the right to retain possession of the vehicle until all outstanding storage fees, costs, and expenses are paid in full.
  • Power of Sale:  If any invoice remains unpaid for more than 90 days  from the due date, Colne Car Storage reserves the right to sell the vehicle to recuperate our costs.
  • Process of Sale:  We will provide the customer with 14 days' written notice sent to their last known email or postal address before proceeding with a sale. Once sold, the proceeds will be used to cover the outstanding debt, any administrative/selling costs, and outstanding storage fees. Any remaining balance thereafter will be returned to the customer.

3. Access & Notice Periods

  • Standard Notice: We require 1 working days' notice  to prepare and remove a vehicle from storage. While we aim to be as flexible as possible and will do our best to accommodate urgent requests, notice is required to ensure smooth operations.

4. Removal from Storage & Space Reservation

  • Termination by Customer:  If you wish to permanently remove your car from storage, we request that this is done at the end of a calendar month. Please note that no partial refunds will be issued for unused storage time within a month.
  • Temporary Removal:  If you temporarily remove your car from the facility (e.g., for a weekend event or servicing), your designated space will be reserved for you, provided your monthly payments remain fully up to date.
  • Forfeiture of Space:  Colne Car Storage reserves the right to reallocate or offer any unpaid, lapsed, or abandoned spaces to new customers.

5. Vehicle Condition & Operational Requirements

  • Keys and Access:  Customers must leave a working set of keys (including alarm fobs/immobilisers) with Colne Car Storage for the duration of the storage period to allow for facility management and emergency movement.
  • Mechanical Condition:  Vehicles must be delivered in a safe, non-hazardous condition. Any known fluid leaks, mechanical faults, or electrical faults must be disclosed prior to storage. If a vehicle develops a more severe leak, the customer may be billed for specialized cleaning or environmental disposal costs.

6. Insurance & Liability

  • Our Cover:  All vehicles inside our facility are protected by our fully comprehensive insurance policy up to a maximum value of £150,000.
  • High-Value Vehicles:  Increased indemnity cover is available for higher-value vehicles. This must be requested and agreed upon in writing at an additionally quoted cost prior to storage.
  • Owner’s Responsibility:  Customers are advised to notify their own insurance company that the vehicle is being held in a secure storage facility. Colne Car Storage is not liable for structural mechanical failure, internal electrical faults, or fluid leaks that occur naturally during the storage period.

7. Cancellation by Colne Car Storage

  • Colne Car Storage reserves the right to terminate this storage agreement at any time by providing the customer with 30 days' written notice  to remove their vehicle. If the vehicle is not collected within this 30-day window, we reserve the right to remove the car from our facility or charge an increased daily penalty rate.

8. Agreement of Terms

By accepting any transport quotation, paying an invoice, or booking a vehicle into storage with Colne Car Storage, you explicitly agree to the Terms and Conditions outlined above.
